Prior to taking the bench as the judge of the 192nd Civil District Court in Dallas County, Maria Aceves was a Dallas civil litigation attorney focusing on personal injury matters and representing injured individuals and their families. She also handled guardian ad litem appointments representing minor children’s interests in civil cases. Prior to leading her own firm, the North Texas native and SMU law school alum also did civil defense and catastrophic injury work for other prominent firms. And prior to that, she interned for a civil district court judge in Dallas County, which was step one in her full-circle journey. Aceves was named to the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association’s Women of Distinction list in 2022. Named a D Magazine Best Lawyer in 2022, she is also a Super Lawyers Texas Rising Star and Top 40 Under 40 by the National Trial Lawyers Association.
