CLA takes pride in being a firm for main street—not wall street. The firm itself is entrepreneurial in nature, so it’s only fitting that most of its clients are entrepreneurs, too. “We call ourselves an entrepreneurial firm because we encourage our own people to create and mold their own careers here,” says Keith Davidson, managing principal of office – Dallas. “Our people come from varying backgrounds and are so much more than accountants; they are immersed in their respective industries, which means they have the know-how to be real difference-makers with their clients. Serving clients with a diverse range in size, complexity, and mission, they take the time to understand what their clients are trying to achieve, then look for opportunities to help them on their journey.”

Understanding that business owners need more than a “just a CPA” to do their taxes, CLA affords their clients strategic services beyond what typical large CPA firms offer. CLA is experienced in delivering integrated audit, tax, outsourcing, digital, wealth management, payroll, executive search, and consulting services to help clients succeed professionally and personally. “From pre-revenue startup through succession, we offer what our clients need when they need it by leveraging a vast network of resources,” Davidson says. “We are more than a peace time CPA and have benefitted from this unique approach, as we have experienced double-digit growth each year for the past few years.”

CLA understands there are countless ways to serve its clients—and the community—and seizes the opportunities to excel at both. All Dallas CLA team members are highly encouraged and provided paid time off each year to get involved in the communities they serve. Much of their volunteer work is offering pro bono services to small nonprofits and companies in underserved areas of Dallas. “We are making big strides in our volunteer efforts,” Davidson says. “You can’t serve Main Street and entrepreneurs just by cashing the checks; you have to support the community that supports you and that reflects them. It matters!”

Building a culture that welcomes different beliefs and perspectives is important to CLA in order to truly know and help its clients, the community, and each other. The team in Dallas was built to be collaborative and nimble. A “flat” organization, CLA’s mission is to continue to find ways to create opportunity within and outside of the company. Says Davidson, “We are different because we understand entrepreneurship; it’s in our DNA.”
