COVID-19 cases in Texas have not surged since Gov. Greg Abbott lifted the mask mandate according to the Texas Tribune. However, experts caution that it may still be too early to tell whether Abbott’s decisions to lift the statewide mask mandate and allow businesses to fully reopen could prompt a new wave of infections.
The FDA says that COVID-19 vaccines provide protection for at least nine months but booster shots may become necessary, especially for older populations.
