I love it when the DMA brings together three things I adore: food, art, and writing. This month, two Arts & Letters Live events will tickle multiple senses.

Tuesday, April 9 will be all about Greeks and Greece. Award-winning novelist Madeline Miller has taken the Odyssey’s infamous nymph as her subject in the New York Times best-seller “Circe.” The Greek language becomes the center of Mary Norris’ “Greek To Me: Adventures of the Comma Queen,” which traces her relationship with the Greek isles and their words (and, I suspect, wines). A VIP ticket to the evening’s talk includes a Greek-themed dinner with the authors.

Wednesday, April 24 gives us the sass and pizzazz of the south. “The Best Cook in the World: Tales from My Momma’s Table” is Rick Bragg’s love letter to his mother and her Southern heritage of recipes as well as the wisdom doled out in the kitchen, among apron-strings, or at the table. The food memoir, with recipes, is a New York Times best-seller. Novelist Helen Ellis’s Southern Lady Code dishes out witty essays. A VIP ticket to the evening’s talk includes a Southern-themed dinner with the authors.
