Looks like Tim Hutchins and co-pitmaster Dustin Blackwell of Hutchins BBQ in McKinney have opened a second location in Frisco. Kinda sorta.

Roy Hutchins opened Roy’s Smokehouse near McKinney way back in 1990. Roy’s was about the size of a Chevrolet Suburban. Roy opened a larger joint in Frisco in 1994 only to be discovered and befriended by Randy White, once a defensive tackle for the Dallas Cowboys when they were fun to watch (another story). In 2001, Roy agreed to change the name of his Frisco joint to Randy White’s Hall of Fame BBQ which I’m sure at the time seemed like a smart move.

With all due respect to Mr. White, the Hutchins have reinserted their name on the building in Frisco and are selling their trademark fatty brisket and other familiar ‘cue selections. They are open for lunch Wednesday through Sundays from 11 A.M. until it’s all gone. If you spot Number 54 in line, buy him lunch. He deserves it. 9225 Preston Rd. Frisco. 972-540-1920.
