D CEO Snags National Best in Business Awards

|

D CEO, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, and Plano-based HousingWire were the North Texas winners in the Society of American Business Editors and Writers’ annual Best in Business contest, which honors excellence in business and financial journalism.

D CEO won three awards in the magazine category, including General Excellence. The other two were best feature article (“Scrapping for Survival” by Glenn Hunter, which told how Dallas-based Gold Metal Recyclers has withstood attacks by community activists and editorialists for The Dallas Morning News); and for best opinion/commentary (Mitchell Schnurman’s Bottom Line columns).

The Star-Telegram won two prizes in the newspaper category, for Schnurman’s columns and for its coverage of the American Airlines bankruptcy. HousingWire was honored in the magazine category for best explanatory reporting.

The national journalism competition drew a record 1,030 entries across all news platforms. The awards will be presented March 17 at SABEW’s 49th annual conference in Indianapolis, where speakers will include Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels and White House consumer advocate Richard Cordray.
