Chamber Gives Event Moderator The Old Heave-Ho

|

Now I know what it’s like to be rejected by the rope-line guy. After being asked to moderate a panel discussion at noon today for the Dallas Regional Chamber’s International Business Achievement Awards –and spending many hours doing research and pre-interviewing the panelists for it–I was unceremoniously given the boot yesterday afternoon around 5. Seems “someone” at the chamber didn’t like my tough-love editorial in the new issue of D CEO magazine, which criticized the business group for failing to publicly support embattled DISD Superintendant Michael Hinojosa. My feeling: We applaud and support the chamber when it’s right–as in helping with the International Business program–and take it to task when it’s wrong. So, if you attend today’s luncheon at the Fairmont and hear how yours truly couldn’t show because of an “unavoidable conflict”–that’s the reason they’ll be serving up–you now know what the “conflict” was all about.
