Not that Trammell Crow, the other one. Trammell S. Crow, the real estate scion and the force behind Earth Day Texas. He was good enough to bring his posse to the Old Monk to chat with Tim Rogers and Zac Crain about the event that’s planned for the last weekend of April in Fair Park.

But don’t hit the snooze button just yet. Crow is an odd duck who doesn’t fit into all the usual stereotypes of a Dallas rich guy. It’s a fun conversation, even if Tim neglects to introduce himself and Zac at the outset.

Before I leave you to it, a couple of corrections:

1) Tim mentions Olympic “sculling” (a type of rowing) when he means “skeleton” (sledding headfirst). Then Zac makes it a team error. The story referenced is this 2006 article.

2) Tim calls Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick a “climate denier.” There’s no record of Patrick claiming that the Earth lacks a climate, but since what Patrick has done is deny human-influenced climate change — just as much an established scientific fact as the existence of weather — Tim can be forgiven the confusion.

Here’s a tease of what Crow had to say about Patrick, who will be at Earth Day Texas: “Dan Patrick’s not going to be the same after this Earth Day … He’s a smart guy. Part of his mind is open, and he’s going to go home with some new ideas.”

Listening to the recording of Crow’s voice once more to produce the mix we’re publishing to our podcast feed, I was kicking myself that we hadn’t asked him to recite the “Dude abides” monologue from The Big Lebowski. A real missed opportunity.

(We’re still awaiting our iTunes approval, but if you can manually add our feed —http://dmagazine.libsyn.com/rss — to your podcatcher, have at it. Otherwise, listen below.)
