Gardening

A Green Thumb Weekend

I’ve been all about tending my garden of late. I’m meticulously plucking the flowers off my “mint gone wild“, watering religiously, pruning like a mad woman… Of course, given our inferno like weather, the gardening is a bit of a comical scene — picture me working diligently in five minute intervals interrupted by desperate (read: wholly ungraceful) plunges into the pool to avoid heat stroke. I’m just glad the entire thing isn’t on camera.

But back to the actual gardening, or specifically two rather excellent gardening related things. First there are the MASSIVE (and completely awesome) new Okura planters from Jonathan Adler. These are beasts friends. Larger than life, glossy, color saturated beasts. And they are completely stunning. I’m thinking my mint would look rather fetching pouring over the sides of that yellow number to the right, yes?

Then there’s the little happening from 4-6 pm tomorrow at Calloway’s Nursery on Greenville. The nursery is hosting a networking event for gardening enthusiasts to share their tips and stories. Joy Lilljedahl, current president of the North Texas Unit of the Herb Society of America, will also be on hand to share info on herbs and provide ideas on how to purpose an herb harvest (Joy, I’m going to hit you up about my mint…be ready).

There will also be light snacks, and shoppers who ‘like’ the MyTexasGarden Facebook page will receive a 25% off coupon.

Now if only we could use that coupon to buy that Jonathan Adler pot of my dreams, we’d be all set.
