The popular French electronic act M83 spent last month holding open auditions to find a “female singer-keyboardist” for its upcoming massive international tour. On Friday, M83’s Anthony Gonzalez announced that he found his new bandmate here in North Texas.

Denton’s own Kaela Sinclair will join M83 for the next nine months as the synth-heavy band plays large venues and festivals around the world. Sinclair has some experience with international touring, after she was invited by a member of the Scottish Parliament to play a music festival in the Orkney Islands last year. And she had a brush with viral fame in January with a cover of SOHN’s “Artifice.” But joining a band as well-known as M83 should qualify as a very big deal for the indie pop singer.

Sinclair says in a post on Facebook that she has an album due this summer, along “with a pretty cool opening spot on a big tour later in the year.”

You can catch M83 and Kaela Sinclair at the Bomb Factory on April 8.
