COVID-19 Bulletin (11/18/20)

New COVID-19 cases were down in Dallas County, but remain high statewide.

Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins reported 645 new COVID-19 cases, a decrease compared to the previous day. There were four deaths of individuals in their 60s and 70s.


Health experts from Baylor College of Medicine say that Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine trials will need further study on pediatric and elderly populations. The vaccine appears 95 percent successful but requires continued study and evaluation, KERA News reported.


6,800 Texans tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, an increase compared to the previous day. Hospitalizations remain high with nearly 7,500 patients receiving COVID-19 care, a nearly 1,300-person increase compared to the previous week. 20 new deaths were confirmed, The Texas Tribune reported.


There were eight deaths in Tarrant County due to COVID-19 on Tuesday. Amidst 732 new cases, the deaths included individuals in their 50s through 90s. The county has now experienced over 800 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic with 62,500 COVID-19 recoveries, The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.
