Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins reported 234 additional COVID-19 cases and nine deaths on Wednesday. “It’s up to all of us to flatten the curve, and the good trends that we’re seeing can quickly change if only a few of us decide to do things that are not recommended by the doctors,” he tweeted.
The Fort Worth ISD Superintendent defended his decision to push in-person learning back, citing Texas’ 20 percent positive rate for testing, while in New York, the rate is at 1 percent. In Tarrant County, the rate is 10-11 percent, KERA reports.
The Dallas Morning News spoke with physicians about whether parents should let their kids play sports, and two responded that they wouldn’t allow their own children to participate, given current COVID-19 prevalence.
Collin and Denton Counties reported a combined 353 new cases on Wednesday, along with seven deaths, NBC 5 reports. Denton County Judge Andy Eads said, “This COVID-19 virus can cause significant illness and death. It is imperative that everyone continue wearing masks, washing hands frequently, and socially distancing.”
