McKesson Has a New CEO

|

McKesson Corp. veteran Brian Tyler is the new chief executive officer, following John Hammergren, who has been in the position since 1999. McKesson, one of the largest corporations in the country, moved its headquarters to Irving last fall.

Tyler has been at McKesson for 22 years and has led in every sector of the company as well as their corporate strategy and business development unit. He was most recently the COO and president of McKesson, and will join the company’s board of directors with the promotion.

“I am incredibly humbled and grateful for the opportunity to lead this company,” said Tyler via release. “We have a seasoned and talented Board of Directors and executives. I look forward to building on the solid foundation and global platform established by John and our management team. McKesson will continue to innovate in this changing healthcare environment, always focused on providing exceptional value to our customers and patients.”

Hammergren was consistently the highest paid CEO in the industry. He received $18.1 for fiscal year 2017, which included a $1.68 million salary, a $3.48 million cash bonus, a longterm cash payout of $570,000 and equity worth around $11.8 million, according to Bloomberg. McKesson cut his salary by 10 percent last year after investors complained about the company’s role in the opioid crisis. The state of New York has named McKesson in a lawsuit for their role in the epidemic.
