Medical City’s $13,000 Charge to the Wrong Patient

|

A patient portal mix-up at Medical City Dallas resulted in a woman receiving $13,000 in medical bills that were supposed to be for someone else, WFAA reports.

When Tanya White confirmed that the bill had her information on it, she attempted to contact the hospital, but White told WFAA that a billing manager said she had been seen in July at Medical City Green Oaks, a psychiatric hospital. White said she had never set foot in the facility.

When White didn’t pay the bill, she was sent to collections, WFAA reports. “So now, not only is my name is in jeopardy, my credit, everything,” she told WFAA.  “That was the final straw.”

WFAA found out about the case and sent paperwork, to Medical City including the identity theft report White had filed. Soon after, Medical City called White and apologized, saying there was a mix up, according to WFAA.
