An Updated List of Rural Hospital Closures in Texas Since 2010

Fourteen rural hospitals have closed in Texas since 2010, more than any other state, according to the North Carolina Rural Health Research Program.

After Texas comes Tennessee with eight closures, then Georgia (six), Alabama (five), Mississippi (five), and North Carolina (five). Becker’s Hospital Review recently rounded up the state-by-state results from the NCRHRP’s running list of closures across the country.

Here in Texas, NCRHRP tallies Care Regional Medical Center in Aransas Pass, East Texas Medical Center – Trinity, and Timberlands Hospital in Crockett as hospitals that shuttered in 2017.
