New York’s Milk Bar—empire of Christina Tosi, deconstructed birthday cakes, and cereal milk—announced in a social media post five days ago what they’re calling the inaugural All You Can Treat Tour. The mobile ice cream truck summer tour will hit Austin, Dallas, Chicago, Minneapolis, and Miami, stopping at chosen partner shops at each stop. Our lure: the Emporium Pies in Bishop Arts on the weekend of June 29-30.
On Instagram, people dramatically gasped, “Atlanta?!” followed by a broken-heart emoji. (Why not Atlanta? Because: Dallas, baby.) And pleaded: “when you come to Chicago, please stay forever!”
“Everything I know about Milk Bar and what I know about Christina Tosi is just full of joy and a lot of fun,” Emporium Pies co-founder Megan Wilkes says. Everything I (personally) know of Milk Bar and Tosi fits that description, too, like several years ago at the Austin Food & Wine Festival, when Tosi appeared, like the elvin girl-next-door in a floral-print hair bandana, doling out confetti-bright treats.
“The long and short of it is that they reached out to us, and when they decided to come through Dallas, they knew we were there and were likely to be excited,” Wilkes says.
“We’ve always admired the creativity of Milk Bar and everything that Christina does,” Wilkes says of she and her Emporium co-founder Mary Sparks. “They execute things with integrity and joy and we love that. They embody joy as a company.” A sister company.
Milk Bar’s vintage 1969 Chevy postal truck with its baby-pink hue, silhouetted palm trees, and fuchsia “milk” lettering will pull up, looking fun and perfectly, dazzlingly beach-y. They’ll peddle cereal-milk soft serve with cornflake crunch, their infamous compost cookies, and ooey-gooey Milk Bar pie, along with swag of various kinds (plus a care-package shipping station, in case you absolutely must ship that crate of loot to a Milk-Bar desert).
A surprise collaboration between Milk Bar and Emporium Pies will also make its appearance.

“We’re excited to have [people coming in],” Wilkes says. As a city, she’s happy to see that “we’re getting a lot more national attention.”
