First clowns, now rats. Will our backyards ever be safe again?
|

Watch Your Paws: New Disease Can Be Fatal. We’re just getting over the creepy-clowns-in-the-schoolyard scare and, good grief, now deadly rat dropping are threatening our fur babies. One Plano vet who’s already seen two fatal cases of the bacterial disease leptospirosis says not to take any chances. “If there’s any issue whatsoever—if you’ve seen one rat in the yard—it’s very inexpensive to have your dog tested.”

Six Months Later, Still No Arrests in Missy Bevers’ Murder. You don’t often see news stories reporting that nothing has happened. But in the case of Missy Bevers it’s newsworthy because her killer was caught on tape walking around the crime scene shortly before she was bludgeoned (not to mention, he or she had a very distinctive gait). According to this story, Midloathian police have “recently brought in some outside experienced homicide detectives to offer a new set of eyes on the case.” Let’s hope they find something.

Campaign Signs Just Aren’t What They Used To Be. Interesting story here about the lack of political signs in yards this election cycle. Some observations: In my East Dallas neighborhood, I saw quite a few Bernie signs back when he was a contender, now I see a sprinkling of Hillary, but I’ve only noticed a single Trump sign stuck in the mud. Not surprisingly, the sole Trump-supporting home is also the only one in the area with an iron fence enclosing the front yard.
