Cream of the Crop: Lucky Layla Yogurt

Lucky Layla yogurt is all-natural and made in Dallas. photo by Alex Hamm

Todd Moore, third-generation dairy farmer and owner of Lavon Farms in Plano, knows a thing or two about producing high-quality milk. For his latest venture, he’s teamed up with Garland cheese maker Lucky Layla Farms, owned by native Colombian Edgar Diaz, to produce a lovely line of drinkable yogurt. Unlike some national brands, their yogurts are all-natural. They milk their own cows, bring in high-quality fruit from Colombia, and don’t use artificial flavors or colorings. What that means to you: only a third of the sugar found in comparable drinks. We’ve spotted their cute little plastic containers at Eatzi’s, Sprouts, Whole Foods, Central Market, and Kuby’s. Try piña colada, passion fruit, or custard apple. Yum. 2025 Wall St., Ste. B, Garland, 214-748-2912. www.moocheeses.com
