Dallasites: Really Awesome or Awesomely Real?

The chatter about Mark Cuban‘s forthcoming appearance on Dancing with the Stars got me thinking about something: Why does almost every reality show feature someone who hails from the Dallas-Fort Worth area? I’ll freely confess to having done approximately zero research on the subject, other than going over an admittedly slapdash list in my head. So maybe someone beat me to the topic.
