I’m nothing if not willing to try out possibly Tums-inducing new cafes, but a happy report for lunch today at Hay K Rico, a little taqueria/nightclub at 2525 Wycliff, in that unappetizing retail strip past the toll road heading toward Maple. It looks like something that used to be a Bonanza, and the interior is what even the Swedes might call “functional,” but the food is right on. I sampled the carne (beef) flauta special. The flauta was crisp, not greasy, and the guacamole and pico both were fresh. $6. The owner is friendly and although apparently the main business is in the evenings, lunchtime has some promise, IMHO. I’ll go back.
