When I Went: September 21-29, 2011

Was That the Best Time of Year to Go? Anytime when it is not raining is a great time to be in Cancun.

Why I Went There: To celebrate my birthday. It was a business and a pleasure trip as we were working and checking out several places.

Who Went With Me? My husband of 35-plus years. We love to travel.

We Stayed Here: The Royal Cancun. It is an all-adult property with a family property right next door.

You can be there in 2 and 1/2 hours from Dallas, and the water is so blue. It is a great place for destination weddings and vow renewals. Lots of romance and love in the air.

Eat Here: They have eight outstanding restaurants on the property. Pelicano’s out on the beach is really nice. Their coffee shop is better than Starbucks, and I’m a Starbucks fan. The experience at Asiana’s was a great way to end the vacation with lots of friends.

Play Here: The Royal had a themed show every night, including a White Sands Party out on the beach. It was divine.

If I Went Again: I’d stay longer. There was a chocolate spa treatment that I wish I would have done while I was there. I didn’t want to spend the money on it, but after I got home I kept thinking to myself that I should have done it. You don’t want any regrets in life.

How Did You Get There From Dallas? American Airlines

Other Tips For Fellow Travelers: Definitely do a day trip and have some fun by jet skiing or doing the speedboats. You can also take a bus over to Chichen Itza, one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
