Dallas Resolution Makers, This Healthy Cocktail at Hide is For You

At the start of each year, a handful of my friends decides to partake in “Dry January,” which is perfectly fine thing to do and a good test of discipline. And while I do try to eat more salad and less sugar, I will never hop on board the sober January train. I like wine! (Plus, we all know that alcohol typically isn’t the real problem, just the choices a lot of it can inspire.)

But when I do reach for a drink, I don’t want it to totally blow up my hard work. So I did some research to find a Dallas cocktail that aligns with my resolutions. Hide’s “No Scurvy Here” is perfect.

Every cocktail at the Deep Ellum bar (with its centrifuges and immersion circulators) is impressive, but “No Scurvy Here” (despite its silly, swashbuckling connotations) is definitely one of the healthiest choices. The liqueurs it uses, Suze and Italicus, are both low ABV (20 percent). There’s a good dose of vitamin C in the clarified orange and lemon juices (hence the banishment of scurvy), and a solid concentration of antioxidants courtesy of the eucalyptus tincture. There’s even an egg white full of protein.

So there you have it! The next time you want to sip guilt free, head to Hide. Just be mindful of the pretzels and queso or the “Dirty Tots.”
