herbie3Meet Herbie, aka Turbo Herb. He is a 3-year old greyhound ready for adoption through The Greyhound Adoption League of Texas (GALT). Herbie is just one of the hundreds of greyhounds that go to forever homes each year. GALT is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit all-volunteer group dedicated to placing all greyhounds, primarily those that competed and trained for racing and sight hounds, into loving homes.

Each year, chef Chris Ward hosts a fundraiser at The Mercury to benefit GALT. The next event is Saturday, August 16 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The cost of a ticket is $60 and includes one drink ticket, cooking demonstration with Chris Ward, and a goody bag. Of course, there will be tasting portions of appetizers, main dishes, and desserts. The silent auction includes artwork, spa and restaurant gift certificates, dog services, custom jewelry, and more. There are a few VIP seats for $100. You sit ringside at the demo and receive a special gift from GALT.  You can purchase tickets here (click on events) or call 972-503-GALT.
