Welcome back to our Hot Property series! This week, we’re heading to Mount Auburn, a tiny neighborhood in East Dallas that’s known for its small-town spirit and cultural and economic diversity. It’s a historic area–most homes were built in the 1940s, though an array of new builds is slowly transforming the landscape. The neighborhood is also known for its plethora of authentic eateries, from taco shops to the Kalachandji Hare Krishna Temple, one of Dallas’ most popular destinations for vegetarian dining.
1011 Grandview Avenue is located in the heart of the neighborhood, just a block or two away from Mt. Auburn Elementary, Samuell Grand Park, and Tennison Golf Course.
This clean-lined duplex, which was built in 2020, is a modern take on the aesthetics of its Craftsman neighbors.
Inside, tall ceilings, abundant windows, and light wood floors make each space feel bright and fresh. The open floorplan flows from a black-and-white kitchen to a sleek dining room and living area adorned with geometric wallpaper. (Funky patterned walls can be spotted in other rooms, too–check out the half-bath’s flamingo print.)
Upstairs, the primary suite is full of windows and includes a roomy bathroom with dual sinks and an oversized walk-in shower. In this bedroom, you’ll find blue wallpaper; in the next, which is currently functioning as an office, the walls sport feminine floral motifs.
This home’s big backyard has plenty of privacy thanks to wooden fencing that borders the green space and separates it from the neighbors. An outdoor living area accommodates ample seating and a grill, while the second level of the backyard is shady and ideal for kids or pets to play.
