The January, 1979 issue of D Magazine covers the best and worst that Dallas had to offer at the time.

“Here it is again: our annual exercise in sheer effrontery,” the author writes. “Some of you are going to get mad. Some of you are going to write angry letters. Worst of all, some of you are going to telephone and demand to speak to The Jerk Who Wrote Best and Worst.”

So, what was hot in 1979? Rudolph’s Meat Market scored a nod for Best Meat Market, Texas Barbecue House No. 2 was awarded Best Baked Potato, and Lombardi’s restaurant snagged Best Waitstaff.
