The University of North Texas System Board of Regents voted to approve new undergraduate and graduate nursing degree programs at the UNT Health Science Center at Fort Worth. A registered nurse to bachelor of science in nursing (RN to BSN) and a master of science in nursing (MSN) in nursing practice innovation will be offered in the fall of 2024. The degrees also must be approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Texas has the second-fewest nurses per capita in the U.S. while regional schools have turned away around 30,000 qualified applicants over the past two years.

U.S. Dermatology Partners has opened its new North Dallas location after two other North Dallas locations merged. The new specialized integrated care center will be located within U.S. Dermatology Partners’ corporate headquarters and will feature board-certified dermatologists, a fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon, and a board-certified dermatopathologist.

Irving-based specialty management services company U.S. Oral Surgery Management is launching the USOSM Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Centers of Excellence program, which aims to recognize partner practices that deliver superior patient care and grow their practices. Only USOSM partner practices will be eligible to apply for the merit-based certification. Performance indicators like clinical excellence, patient experience, standardization/leveraging of best practices and assets, financial stability/performance, and guidance and governance will part of the evaluation process, which will also include accreditation from a third-party partner.

Former Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams will be the 2023 recipient of its Distinguished Health Service Award from the DFW Hospital Council. Williams served as mayor from 2015-2021 and assisted with COVID-19 awareness as a  delegate on the United States Conference of Mayors in the spring of 2020. He led Arlington to become a smoke-free city prohibiting indoor smoking in 2018, and is also president of Arlington-based engineering firm Graham Associates, Inc., which has worked on AT&T Stadium and Globe Life Park among others.
