UT Southwestern Expanding in Frisco

|

With all the hospital growth in DFW, it can be difficult to keep up with what is being built where and for whom. UT Southwestern is no stranger to growth, both at its main campus in Dallas and outlying districts. Frisco has been a hot spot for hospital growth, with Baylor Scott and White, Texas Health Resources, Medical City, and Scottish Rite of Texas building hospitals in the booming suburb in recent years. The two will soon be united.

UT Southwestern will add to the healthcare explosion in Frisco with a four story multi-specialty clinic set to open in late 2019. The facility will be part of a 20-acre, 132-bed hospital campus with Texas Health Resources. The clinic will add to other off-campus centers in Richardson, Park Cities, Las Colinas, and Fort Worth.

Elsewhere, work on the $480 million expansion of Clements University Hospital is still underway, adding 291 beds for a total of 751, making it one of the largest in the nation. The 12-story third tower will add to emergency department care, house the Peter O’Donnell Jr. Brain Institute, and include space for UT Southwestern’s Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center, and should be open in 2020.

A new nine story West Campus building has recently opened, adding more than 305,000 square feet of outpatient clinical space and a simulation center for training. Another nine story tower is planned for 2022 and will grow the Simmons Cancer Center and include a new radiation oncology building.
