HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Richardson has named Brent Yates, MHA, OTD, as its new CEO. Yates assumed the role on Feb. 13 and will replace Jim Ransom.

In his new position, Yates oversees day-to-day operations and supervises quality and care at the in-patient rehabilitation hospital, which treats major illnesses and injuries including stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, and orthopedic injuries.

Before joining HealthSouth Richardson, Yates served as the director of an in-patient rehabilitation facility in Cookeville, Tennessee.

Frank Brown, president of the southwest region of HealthSouth, says Yates’ clinical knowledge and experience as an occupational therapist will be beneficial in providing excellent care at HealthSouth.

“[Yates’] achievements in the areas of patient quality and operations from his most recent role further enhance his ability to lead the team at the hospital,” Brown said in a statement.

Yates received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Drury University, a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Bellevue University, and a doctorate in occupational therapy from Belmont University.
