List of City Manager Finalists to Be Released Today. Yesterday the Dallas City Council narrowed the list to five names. The mayor will release that list today. Without revealing the names, Channel 8 says: “News 8 has learned of the five selected, four are experienced city managers from outside the city. The fifth is an insider with a couple of years working with the city.”

Ohio State Attacker Had Dallas Tie. Abul Razak Ali Artan, with his mother and six siblings, made his way into the United States in 2014 through Dallas and with the help of Catholic Charities. This whole thing doesn’t seem like it’s going to temper the country’s current xenophobic mood.

Cityplace Sam’s Club Gets Shot Down. A surprise ruling by a county judge may kill the controversial big box store. It also calls into question how Dallas provides sufficient notice to nearby property owners when land is rezoned. Councilman Philip Kingston, whose district includes the proposed Sam’s spot, said, “[I]t’s thrilling to me to see a nascent neighborhood organization stand itself up and win a real David and Goliath battle in court.”

Little Elm Police Looking for Man Who Impersonated an Officer. Whoever he is, he doesn’t seem very committed to his impersonation. When he pulled over a woman, he was driving a Chevy Suburban with just one red light on its roof. He wasn’t wearing a uniform. He didn’t have a badge or a gun. But he did have a fake mustache. “The fake facial hair appeared to be hurriedly applied, since she could see the tape holding it to his face,” police Chief Rodney Harrison said.
