Things To Do In Dallas Tonight: Aug. 6

A much better joke than "no hipsters allowed." From Zoli's Facebook.
I guess I don’t need a joke caption for this one. From Zoli’s Facebook.

A couple weeks ago when One Direction was in town, a bunch of intrepid teenyboppers figured out they were staying at the Ritz-Carlton and camped out with signs.

Will these ladies will use their sleuthing skills to sniff out the Jonas Brothers? Or have preteen attentions turned to younger, greener, and more British pastures? Their concert tonight is at Gexa rather than the AAC, and it’s not sold out. Easy math.

That’s unlike the math Brad was doing yesterday, in order to determine the “pizzabilities” inherent to Zoli’s Pizza Tavern, which opens tonight in the extended Bishop Arts area (the old BEE spot, may that place rest in peace). For the uninitiated, that’s pizza possibilities. And I think the number Brad came up with is in the quadrillions. Anyway, excitement for this seems rampant, but no one is more ready for the opening than my friend Brian, fantastic photographer, pizza fanatic, and possibility the only reason I’ll go anywhere near this place for a few weeks. As most people know, I don’t do crowds well. But Brian lives nearby, and I’m pretty sure he’s been tracking the restaurant’s progress via telephoto lens. If you feel like joining the mad hoards craving a New York-style slice, show up tonight. Then move to Ten Bells for celebratory ales.

Finally, a note dropped into my Inbox yesterday afternoon about a $10 tasting at the Wine Poste in the Design District. The guest is Sean Capiaux, founder of Capiaux Cellars, and he’ll pour his entire line up of small-batch California pinot noirs (six wines in all). There will also be cheeses and assorted other snacks.
