Things To Do In Dallas Tonight: April 15

2Cellos. The one of the left kinda reminds me of a skinnier, early Buffy-era David Boreanaz.

That Morrissey, always giving us even more reasons to be melancholy. His concert, rescheduled for tonight from a few months ago, is cancelled-cancelled. For good.

But we can’t get too down. For one thing, if you’d like a free book (and who doesn’t), you can just drop by the Angelika’s café this evening. Our Big Read team will be there with the special copies of Fahrenheit 451, and we’d be thrilled to let you take one off our hands. While you’re there, grab a drink or see a movie or something. Anyone else find it a little strange that Silver Linings Playbook is still playing?

Over here in the Arts District, you have a rare choice of Monday night options: Shakespeare’s Henry VI, Part III, which admittedly might be a little hard to follow if you haven’t caught the other staged readings in the War of the Roses series, or 2Cellos. The duo of fairly cute Croatian musicians rose to fame on YouTube, much like that Canadian kid who visited the Anne Frank House this weekend and wrote something dumb, but I’m into this, even if they were featured on Glee.

They do classically-tinged covers of Michael Jackson, Muse, Nine Inch Nails, and Nirvana. Check out this very dramatic video for “Smooth Criminal” and you’ll see what I mean. They also manage the near-impossible feat of making Coldplay’s “Viva la Vida” sounds pretty, rather than annoying. You don’t have a lot of very close options for dining, but Jorge’s is open, and again, Sunset Lounge is just seconds away and offers a great happy hour. And every time I go to the Winspear, I want to order Champagne. So do that, and enjoy the Starfleet-esque chairs.

Quickie update, for those who’d like to stay home: PBS is screening the excellent Wonder Women! documentary Joslyn and I saw together at the Angelika quite a few months ago. Highly recommend it. It’s on at 10 p.m.
