It’s hard to imagine a time during the 19th century when caviar was served at bars the same way peanuts are served today. Caviar, which was often coveted by royalty and people like Pablo Picasso, has earned its reputation for its hefty price tag and wonderful flavor. Regardless of whether you consider yourself a bit of a caviar connoisseur or you’ve never enjoyed caviar before, here is a list of Dallas restaurants where you can indulge in this seafood delicacy.

Happy National Caviar Day, Dallas.

Nick & Sam’s Steakhouse

The lively steakhouse offers complimentary caviar as an appetizer to all guests, making it the perfect place to visit if you have never tried the fishy delicacy and are looking to ease into the caviar experience. Nick & Sam’s also offers the dish a couple of different ways. Try their deviled eggs made with lobster, crab, and of course topped with caviar. If deviled eggs aren’t your thing, then you could opt for their Alaskan sushi roll which is garnished with a dollop of caviar. Don’t forget to order their legendary lobster mac ‘n cheese or lobster fried rice while you are there, it would be a sin to leave Nick & Sam’s without trying these delicious dishes.

The Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek

The beloved restaurant has grown to become a Dallas icon. Many Dallasites choose the upscale and intimate dining room to celebrate anniversaries and other momentous occasions. The Mansion offers golden osetra caviar, which is known for its extremely rich flavor and distinctive golden-yellow color. It is one of the most prized types of caviar available.

TJ’s Seafood

The family-run restaurant and market prides itself in offering the freshest seafood in Dallas. From their famous shrimp cocktail to their fresh Chilean sea bass, dining at TJ’s will make you feel as if you’re vacationing in a beach town. The restaurant’s caviar service includes Siberian sevruga and hackleback, both served with traditional accompaniments such as blinis, grated egg, onion, capers, and crème fraîche.

The Mercury

Head over to The Mercury located at Preston Forest Square for a sophisticated dining experience. Start things off by ordering the caviar egg with vodka cream. For your entrée, we recommend trying the cracklin’ chicken served with potato purée and vegetable nage. Regardless of what you decide to order, Chef Chris Ward’s creations will most certainly not disappoint.

Truluck’s

This list would not be complete without including this seafood, steak, and crab house. Truluck’s pride is their fresh stone crab, which is definitely a must when you dine here. In fact they are so committed to freshness that they own their own fisheries. Their caviar is served with sesame crisps, grated egg, red onion, and crème fraîche. The Uptown location enhances their dining experiences by offering live entertainment seven days a week. Don’t miss out on their half-priced cocktail hour Monday through Friday from 4:30p.m. until 6:30p.m. It’s the perfect way to wind down after a long day at work.
