Every year we whip up a batch of warm winter drinks for Christmas Eve and this year it’s The Douglas Fir, invented by our friend Omar YeFoon, who is the mixologist at The People’s Last Stand in Mockingbird Station. If you haven’t been there you must stop by for happy hour drinks and the yummy charcuterie platter.

The Douglas Fir

2 parts Irish Whiskey

1/2 part hibiscus tea syrup (recipe below)

1/4 part Velvet Falernum (you can omit this)

1/2 part lemon juice

3 – 4 parts hot water

a little honey

top with a clove studded lemon

*For the syrup mix 1 cup of hibiscus tea with 2 cups of brown sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and then take off the heat and let cool and thicken.
