into the weekend…

The weekend is packed full of goodness —  from fashion’s “enfant terrible” at the DMA and a veritable craftapalooza (for both makers and buyers) to prepping for a locavore Thanksgiving, Dallas is hopping with great activities over the next few days.

The action starts with all things Jean Paul Gaultier at the monthly Late Nights at the DMA on Friday.  The event will feature a one night only site-specific art installation courtesy of our friends from Oak Cliff’s Oil and Cotton where guests can try spinning and weaving with June Covington and view art by Rebecca Carter, including her delicate threaded text pieces created specifically for this event.

But wait, there’s more(!)… Crisman Liverman will perform his dress, a billowing patchwork of fabrics, creating an interactive dance party for museum-goers to participate in, milliner Cassandra MacGregor will lead hat-making workshops in the Center for Creative Connections, Katherine Clapner of Dude, Sweet Chocolate will host interactive tastings and Oak Cliff Crêperie will sell French crêpes. (Come hungry!)

We’re definitely planning on hitting up this event, but given the, well…”raciness” of some of Gaultier’s creations, my hubby and I are heading to the museum tonight for a date night “preview” to map our game plan for taking our kiddos to the exhibit. (We’ll let you know where we end up.)  While we’re there, we’re also going to the State of the Arts talk with FD Luxe editor Tracy Achor Hayes (an all-around cool chic for sure).

Ok then there’s Saturday, holy cow the action on Saturday…

Etsy Dallas’s Fourth Annual Jingle Bash
1-8 p.m.
The Palladium Ballroom
Get there early, as this is a hugely popular event chock full of an amazing array of handcrafted goods and, suffice to say, it gets crowded!

Kid’s Holiday Crafting Play Day
11-12:30
Papersource at Northpark
Buy tickets online to create gnome, mushroom, and elf ornaments with your kiddos… Bonus: customers will receive a coupon for 10% off purchases after the workshop.

White Rock Local Market
8-1 p.m
.
The Green Spot / 702 N. Buckner Blvd.

Our fave local market is holding their monthly food and farmers extravaganza this weekend so you can shop for your locally grown Thanksgiving dinner and put your money in the hands of a local farmer, which, in our estimation, is always a good thing!
