At 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, 1956, the last electric streetcar stopped running and Dallas became a bus city. John M. Lampkin, 65, who had driven streetcars since 1913, made the last run from Oak Cliff to the Car Barn at Elm and Peak.
