Texas Oncology broke ground on a 22,300-square-foot cancer care center in the Alliance Corridor. The facility will have medical oncology, hematology, radiation oncology, and infusion services in one location. Texas Breast Specialists will be also be on-site and will offer breast surgery services. It is expected top open up next summer.
Baylor Scott White Health Chief of Medicine Dr. Alex Arroliga and Chief Nursing Executive Dr. Janice Walker were named one of 2021’s 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives in the United States by Modern Healthcare magazine. The recognition honors professionals who are evaluated by their peers and the senior editors of Modern Healthcare to demonstrate responsibility, leadership, community service and achievements inside and outside their organizations. Dr. Eric Hubli will be the first surgeon-in-chief at Cook Children’s Health Care System, where he will be the administrative leader over all surgery and procedure-related matters. He currently leads the pediatric plastic surgery program.
Cook’s Hyperinsulinism Center is now one of six Hyperinsulinism Centers of Excellence in the world awarded by Congenital Hyperinsulinism International. Hyperinsulinism is a rare genetic disease in which the pancreas produces too much insulin and drives blood sugar levels too low.
The Texas Accountable Communities for Health Initiative launched by Episcopal Health Foundation, will be partnering with the Parkland Center for Clinical Innovation to improve the health of communities across Texas via an $8 million project. It will address non-medical community health needs like housing food-insecurity, exercise opportunities, and more. The selected sites are Austin Rundberg, Bastrop County, Brazos Valley, Greater Northside in Houston, Gregg County, and Williamson County.
