Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins reported a three day total of 626 new COVID-19 cases and four deaths on Tuesday.

COVID-19 hospitalization rates are climbing to the highest rate since late March, with 605 patients hospitalized in Trauma Service Area E, according to President and CEO of Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council Stephen Love. Texas’ Trauma Service Areas are 22 regional bodies that make up Texas’ 254 counties and the DFW area is part of Area E. The rise in hospitalization rates can be attributed to July 4th mobility and travel, unvaccinated residents, and the spread of the Delta variant in North Texas.

A string of COVID-19 outbreaks in the U.S. tied to summer camps in recent weeks in many states including Texas and Florida, KERA reports. In the past two weeks, clusters of COVID cases have arrived with a surge of more than 60% from an average of about 12,000 a day to about 19,500.
