Between Thursday and Saturday, Dallas County added 336 new COVID-19 cases and 17 deaths, Dallas Judge Clay Jenkins reports.

The SMU Dedman School of Law’s COVID-19 Legal Helpline has been selected as the recipient of the 2021 State Bar of Texas’ W. Frank Newton Award for its exceptional dedication to legal services for low-income North Texans. In June 2020, the law school launched a student-staffed helpline to offer North Texas residents free legal assistance with issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The award recognizes individuals and groups whose work exemplifies a deep commitment to pro bono service.

County Judge Clay Jenkins says his office is considering cash prizes to boost the slowing vaccine rate in Dallas County, KERA reports. Jenkins might use money from the Dallas County COVID-19 Response Fund, but he hasn’t clarified where the money would come from.
