Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins reported 281 new COVID-19 cases and 12 deaths on Tuesday. “Each day, we vaccinate thousands of more new North Texans with their first shot while giving thousands of second shots at Fair Park, and this plays itself out at other vaccination sites throughout North Texas,” he tweeted.
A DFW COVID-19 vaccine hunter Facebook group has helped thousands in getting vaccinations. The group mostly made up of retired teachers or current Dallas Independent School District employees and has grown from 499 members to over 29,000 streamlining information about vaccine availability for seniors in North Texas. Texas will provide rapid COVID-19 tests for summer camps, according to the Texas Tribune. Gov. Greg Abbot made the statement Tuesday adding that the tests will be voluntary for both staff and campers and that summer camp organizers need to apply to participate.
Thousands of doses of the COVID-19 vaccine are being allocated by Dallas County’s health department and Parkland Health & Hospital system to frontline workers at Kroger, Tom Thumbs, and Target stores. Beginning this week, the health department and hospital are directly allocating nearly 10,000 doses to the stores to vaccinate workers who are also Dallas County residents.
