Medical City Healthcare, Baylor Scott & White Health, and Texas Health Resources all took top spots as the best places to have a baby in North Texas, as voted by readers of DFWChild magazine. The recognition is decided by thousands of DFW residents in this year’s Mom and Babies survey.
DallasChild readers selected two winners this year: Baylor University Medical Center (who won last year), and Medical City Dallas. For the second year in a row, Medical City Plano was voted Collin County’s “best place to have a baby” by readers of CollinChild, Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth was named Tarrant County’s selection for the “best place to have a baby,” and in Denton County, readers named Medical City Lewisville.
“These awards reflect our dedication to providing outstanding labor and delivery services every day across the Medical City Healthcare system,” says Erol Akdamar, FACHE, president of Medical City Healthcare via release. “Exceptional quality, patient-centered and compassionate care are among the many reasons our hospitals are recognized as the destination of choice for women’s healthcare in North Texas.”
Baylor University Medical Center won its second straight award, while Medical City Dallas and Lewisville also won awards for “best local childbirth class” in their respective counties with Medical City Plano winning an additional award for its “Prepared Childbirth” program. Medical City Healthcare hospitals delivered 19,000 babies in total last year.
This year marks the 24th time Texas Health Harris has been awarded “Best Place to Have a Baby” by readers of the magazine. This year also marks Medical City Lewisville’s first “Best Place to Have a Baby” award. DentonChild lists its variety of options for families—for example, luxury postpartum suites and a Level III NICU—among the hospital’s reasons for being chosen.
“We are so proud to win this award for the 24th consecutive year,” said Brittany Baron, media relations strategist for Texas Health Fort Worth. “At Texas Health Fort Worth, we partner with families to facilitate their desired birth experience with a focus on safety and quality outcomes. 2020 ended with 3,014 births, which included 82 sets of twins, 4 sets of triplets and 1 set of quadruplets.”
