Dallas County Judge reported 1,814 new COVID-19 cases and 23 deaths. For the first time, there are 1,000 people hospitalized in the county with COVID-19.


Senior citizens and those with serious health conditions are next up to receive the vaccine after healthcare workers. The state first must vaccinate 1.9 million healthcare workers, and in a few weeks time the 8 million senior citizens and seriously ill will receive their vaccination. The Dallas Morning News has more.


For the first time since July, Texas has more than 10,000 people around the state hospitalized with COVID-19 the Texas Tribune reports.


KERA interviewed Texas Health Resources CEO Barclay Berdan about the shrinking hospital capacity due to COVID-19, where about one-third of the health system’s beds are taken by COVID-19 patients, the highest levels since the beginning of the pandemic.
