Dallas County confirmed 1,114 new cases of COVID-19 and six deaths on Monday. Judge Clay Jenkins announced on Twitter that local officials will take over testing from the federal government in Dallas County, with a goal to cut test result times from 8-10 days to 1-3 days.

Mayor Eric Johnson reported that 68 percent of beds in the city of Dallas are occupied, 71 percent of ICU beds are occupied, and 39 percent of ventilators are in use—an increase over statistics from last week.

The testing site at The Salvation Army’s Pleasant Grove Corps Community Center was not able to open Monday as scheduled. Testing equipment and supplies were stolen, preventing the new walk-up site from providing services. It’s expected to be open this morning. NBC 5 has more.

Project Unity is conducting COVID-19 testing at five sites in Dallas. The testing program will run through July 17. WFAA has more information on locations and hours of operation.
