Hospital Hires Slow, but Healthcare Services Are Growing

|

Dallas is home to a growth market for healthcare due to increases in healthcare services, according to the Dallas Morning News. While hospital hiring is down in North Texas, growth is strong in employment for ambulatory clinicians, nurses, physicians, and interim executives.

The DMN highlights AMN Healthcare Services, healthcare’s largest staffing company, which opened a second headquarters here in Dallas. AMN CEO Susan Salko noted Dallas’ great labor market, progressive healthcare environment, and the two airports as reasons companies like hers wanted to relocate to the area.

The article also noted EmCare, which was founded in Dallas in 1972 and staffs emergency room doctors in the area. Parent company Envision Physician Services staffs around 25,000 clinicians nationwide and saw 15.9 million emergency room visits last year, primarily with physicians from EmCare.
