To Highland Park Superintendent John Connolly for going as far as he could in disciplining the students arrested at a headline-making Deep Ellum beer bust. Offenders were suspended from certain extracurricular activities-effectively canceling the senior play and forfeiting the state basketball championship. Only school code prevented Connolly from suspending the lawbreakers forever And THUMBS DOWN to St Marks Headmaster Arnie Holtberg for once again allowing fund-raising to defeat ethics on a technicality. St Mark’s only suspends students from athletic extracurriculars, so few partying students were affected. Not, we hear, the son of Tom Hicks, who coincidentally donated $6.8 million to the school’s fund-raising campaign the week after the party.
