EmCare, a Dallas-based medical and hospital staffing company, has been retained by Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital in South Boston, Va., to evaluate and ensure proper physician and nursing coverage in its emergency room.
According to its website, EmCare recruits and takes applications from more than 1,500 medical personnel in the U.S. to build a talent pool of ER specialists, physicians, practical nurses, and nurse providers to fill in for hospital staffs during periods of high patient demand.
The Gazette-Virginian reported Sentara’s “original emergency room staff has been retained,” and EmCare is able to “supplement that original staff as needed and install cost efficiencies in the practice of emergency care.”
A Sentara spokesperson told The Gazette-Virginian that EmCare also plans to oversee the “physician’s piece” to help the hospital manage and provide ER physicians.
