gerald posner

Gerald Posner is an investigative .JournaLIst for TALK magazine and a contributor to NBC’s Today Show, whose work has been praised by John Martin of ABC News (“one of the most resourceful investigators I have encountered in 30 years of journalism”) and The Boston Globe (“an investigative journalist whose work is marked by his thorough and meticulous research ), among others.

At age 23, Gerald was one of the youngest attorneys ever hired by die Wall Street law firm of Cravath, Swaine & Moore. A Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude graduate of L C Berkeley ( 1975). he was an honors graduate of Hastings Law School ( 1978). where he served as the associate executive editor for the Law Review.

In addition to his work for Talk and the Today Show. Gerald is a regular panelist on the History Channel’s HistoryCENTER. He is a member of the National Advisory Board of the National Writers Union, the Authors Guild PEN, The Committee to Protect Journalists, and Phi Beta Kappa. He lives in Man-hattan with his wife, Trisha, who works with him on all of bis projects.

▼ Brooklyn native and illustra- I tor Chris Notarile is a graduate of I Parsons School of Design in New . York City. He originally dreamt of | becoming a comic illustrator and published his own comic strip as a teenager. Once in college, his interest in realistic art soon look precedence.

Since then, Chris’ work has appeared in many magazines (including the famous cover of the Johnny Carson farewell issue of TV Guide), and his poitrails have appeared on everything from book covers to movie posters. His celebrity subjects include BUI Cosby. Clint Eastwood, Kevin Costner, Michael J. Fox, Homer Simpson, Roseanne Barn Ted Koppel. and Michelle Pfeiffer as “Catwoman.” His work can also be seen in the book This Face You Got, which features celebrity portraits. For this issue of D, we asked Chris to illustrate our book list on p. 68.

▼ THOUGH HE WAS BORN ON LONG ISLAND, contributing editor Mike Shropshire claims It) be a native Texan. He has lived in Dallas since 1976 and started writing for D Magazine in October 1980. He’s had at least one story in 14 of the 20 years since then, on every conceivable topic except home design and fashion. Mike is also the author of two non-fiction books. Seasons in Hell and The Ice Bowl, and co-author of a political biography. His first novel. The Pro (Si. Martin’s Press), is due for publication in early 2001.

Mike is proud to say he’s never been sued, or even threatened with a lawsuit, until 1999. He is married with kids and grandkids. and he’s frequently mistaken for Jack Lemmon. This month, he writes about notorious sport scaler Dale Hansen on p. 45.
