Wellness is a major buzzword these days, but it can mean a little something different to everyone. Does it stand for self-care and restoration, or is it more about strength and endurance? So, we created a series breaking down the healthy habits of local influencers and entrepreneurs, allowing them to define what wellness means on a personal level.

Days fill up fast for technicolor-loving interior designer, UNICEF ambassador, and television personality Moll Anderson. To power through, the glamorous Dallasite centers the beginning and end of each one by living in the moment, and relishing in the company of her loved ones. “We need to live looking forward to being at home, being with our spouse or significant other, by ourselves, loving our grandchildren, and cuddling our animals,” she says. “We must live our best life, giving love, and accepting love.” We caught up with Anderson, who shared how focusing on happiness factors into her wellness game.

What’s the ideal way to get your mornings started?
I hit the remote for a fire, my husband brings me coffee, and we sit in bed with the pups and talk about our upcoming day. We prioritize connecting in the morning and at the end of our day. It’s so important! I have a cup of hot water and lemon, as well as one piece of Ezekiel toast, with avocado, chipotle flakes, egg whites, and Fresno Chilis.

How do you stay focused on health and well-being each day?
It doesn’t matter how much money you make!  I lived on no money.  If we don’t create an environment that shifts our energy to sanctuary living, and still create a warm environment, we are not truly living a sensory aware life. I also watch my words to myself. Words are so powerful. I meditate in a prayerful way, and for me, it’s practicing gratitude. I do not waste time in the past; I’m always forward. I also love Pilates, and I choose happiness!

What’s your go-to power snack when you hit that afternoon lull?
My go-to snack at about 4 p.m. really gets me through! I carry gingersnaps (MI-DEL gluten free) and enjoy them with a cup of chai tea and a teaspoon of coconut sugar.  It’s divine and sexy!

Do you think cheat meals are important?
I didn’t used to think so!  Honestly, I don’t cheat a whole meal.  I have learned to savor—every now and then—a couple of fab french fries, or a bite of something special or two, but I don’t make a meal of it.

Your mother had Alzheimer’s and it made a huge impact on you. How does this shape your wellness outlook today?
As I’m going toward 60 and loving every second at 59, I’m changing so much in my brain. I try to really be in the moment. Alzheimer’s is an insidious disease. I watched my mom die and it was hard. I was scared straight. We can’t control everything coming our way, but I can control how I take care of my body and my brain, and do everything I can to live my best life myself.
