There’s not always enough time in the day to skim a lengthy, re-worded press release that’s been stamped with “breaking” or “exclusive.” And some stories don’t warrant an entire page of prose. Each week we’ll gather the most important tidbits of Dallas food news and post them here, on SideDish. Because sometimes all you need is the scoop.

Nature’s Plate to open third location: The plant-based grab-and-go restaurant is opening it’s third North Texas location on Thursday, January 10. Sisters Annette Baker and Marianne Lacko launched Nature’s Plate in 2011. It was a small business at the time, and they didn’t have a storefront. In 2014 they opened a spot in East Dallas, and then another store in North Dallas. They dish out vegan fare with non-GMO, whole grains, and mostly organic ingredients. The Plano spot is located at Preston Creek (8404 Preston, Ste. 226).

Additional weekly pickup locations are available in Frisco at Salubrious Juice (10990 Rolater Rd.) and at Oak Cliff’s Local Press and Brew (1605 N. Beckley).

Kenny’s Burger Joint Turns 10, celebrates with $5 burgers and martinis: This is fairly straightforward. On Monday, January 21, both Kenny’s Burger Joint locations will be offering $5 burgers and specialty martinis all day. Party hardy.

Noble Rey Brewing Company files for bankruptcy: GuideLive reports that on December 19, the brewery filed for reorganization (chapter 11) in U.S. bankruptcy court for the Northern District of Texas. They reported more than $1 million in debt. They’re reportedly planning to keep brewing.
