What I do…
“In short, I do a lot. From our scrappy beginnings to becoming the third largest independent brewery in the state, I’ve had to wear a lot of hats, and that hasn’t changed much. With no typical ‘day in the life,’ my job can take me from planning expansion efforts, brainstorming marketing plans, sampling new beers, or just hanging with the team and keeping our culture intact.”

Who is your style icon?
“I can’t really say I have too many icons related to style. I admire the accomplishments of a person, and it always seems that the people doing big things have a style that fits very well with the active and ever-changing life of an entrepreneur. I will say, I do admire anyone who can make casual look cool. That’s a fine line, but some people can pull it off with so little effort.”

How does your work influence what you wear?
“It’s a 24-hour job to build and run a brand like Deep Ellum Brewing and Deep Ellum Distillery. It might sound cliché, but it’s really not just a job, it’s a lifestyle. Brewing can be a lot of fun, but it’s also a dirty job. Mostly, my work clothes consist of anything with our graphics and a solid pair of jeans.”

What inspires your style choices?
“I’d have to give this one up to the neighborhood. Deep Ellum has such a storied and culturally significant past that it’s very easy to draw style inspiration from the days of yesteryear or the neighborhood’s most recent renaissance. My favorite part of Deep Ellum is its all-encompassing, come-as-you-are attitude.”

How would you describe your style?
I like to keep it pretty relaxed and simple, but equally like looking sharp and crisp when the opportunity presents. A good pair of jeans, and a good pair of broken-in boots are a go-to favorite of mine.”

What do you never leave home without?
“My dog. She’s a Dutch shepherd named Athena. She’s still a pup, but she’s incredibly loyal and unbelievably smart. Plus, she’s always got my back, which isn’t a bad thing when you’ve set up shop on this side of the tracks.”

Do you have a go-to look?
“Boots, jeans, and Deep Ellum anything.”

Favorite store?
“If I’m out, I tend to find myself in stores that have a strong focus on the experience. A place where it just seems suiting to have a beer or bourbon in hand. Stag comes to mind.”
