BATHING BEAUTY

The simple black one-piece gets a chic facelift this summer. PLUS: cool kicks from Andreas Beckmann.
|

This summer’s eye-catching one-pieces will make a splash whether you’re lounging on a private island or at the neighborhood pool. A bejeweled neckline and deep V are a sexy update to a simple black suit. Add a safari element with tribal-print bangles or a chunky turquoise ring, and throw on some aviators to protect those baby blues from the sun. The shoe of the season is a cork-bottomed wedge—comfortable enough to walk in yet stylish enough to head out for drinks at dusk. And don’t forget summer’s No. 1 accessory: sunscreen.

Jana is wearing a black one-piece bathing suit by Vix ($158/Neiman Marcus, NorthPark), mosaic square cuffs by Sophia Fiore for Neiman Marcus ($120 each/Neiman Marcus, NorthPark), and Stephen Dweck carved turquoise and gold ring ($590/Neiman Marcus, NorthPark).

Regal Ropers
Walk tall in stylish boots and buckles from Andreas Beckmann.

Every Dallas man should have a good pair of boots, and Andreas Beckmann sells the best. Formerly at Galleria Dallas, the store has a new home at the Shops of Highland Park, where owners and Mexico natives Laura and Hector Alfaro custom-fit boots and help their customers design them from in-step to style. The store offers an array of skins, including the popular alligator, trendy stingray, ostrich, shark, and, for that already worn-in look, kangaroo. The Alfaros have fit boots to many famous feet, including those of Chuck Norris, LeAnn Rimes, and local restaurateur Mico Rodriguez. Another of Hector’s talents is custom-making sterling silver or gold belt buckles, on which he can engrave initials, a company logo, or any special design. The store also supports local talent, carrying beaded and crystal buckles by Annabella, sterling silver designs by Bandera Collection, semiprecious stone belts by Deborah Gaspar, silk print scarves by Elle Schuster, and Swarovski cluster rings by Karine Jungerman. 4212 Oak Lawn Ave. 214-520-3415.
